Sony finally unveiled the SBH80 Stereo Bluetooth Headset at CES, which we first caught wind of back in September 2013. This headset is different to all of the others in Sony’s ‘SBH’ range in that it has a neckband-style design, which Sony says offers “optimal wearability”. The unit is also splash-proof so you do not need to worry if it rains.
The SBH80 is a lightweight headset at 15.8 grams and consists of a neckband with controls tracking each ear piece. These controls allow you to navigate your music as well as hands-free calling. The SBH80 also has double microphones so your caller will always hear you, no matter which way your head is turned. The main unit that sits on the neck will vibrate discreetly when a message arrives.
The headset supports Bluetooth 3.0, NFC for easy pairing, aptX audio enhancement, multipoint connectivity and HD Voice. The headset has a 115mAh battery, good for 8 hours of talk time according to Sony – it can be easily charged via micro USB.
The Sony SBH80 Stereo Bluetooth Headset is expected to arrive in March 2014 according to Clove, who have the accessory on pre-order for £74.99.
