Xperia Z2_17.1.A.2.49A new firmware build has been certified by the PTCRB for the Xperia Z2 (D6502, D6503) and Xperia Z2 Tablet (SGP521, SGP541). Build number 17.1.A.2.49 looks to be an incremental update over the previous Android 4.4.2 KitKat build (17.1.A.2.36).

Whilst the Xperia Z2 is largely still waiting to be released, the Xperia Z2 Tablet is already shipping. So we would expect this new update to hit the Z2 Tablet in the coming weeks.

gotta have the bug fixes ready for when they ship!!

  • Timbo1

bug fixes!! lets get it to the Z1 ASAP Sony! I’m sure its just the Kit Kat camera bug fix though which is needed.

  • Legolas

lets get real no devices ship without bugs…its just their whole attention to sell the flagship…

  • Timbo1

lets be real, no kidding!! At least they can squash some major bugs before its released, this is the first manufacturer to do an update before a device is released. While we are still being real, do you really think the average public visits PTCRB? Hell no!! For that matter the average public does not visit this blog either so its really only getting viewed largely by a select group of people that really doesnt effect Sony all that much so its not really a publicity stunt!!

  • Legolas

public stunt…?? i mean who cares i am xperia owner and half the population dont give a shit about for those who cares its important what the company does….pushing updates for unreleased device..n dont give a…f**** about last year flagship..

  • Timbo1

if they didn’t care about last years flagship the Z1 never would have gotten Kit Kat before the Z2 was even released! I am a Z1 owner as well but the Kit Kat update I got did not break my phone, sure there are a few rather annoying bugs that pops up now and then but the phone is still completely usable so bitching about the Z2 getting an update is kind of useless to me, we will get another update and update after that as well so go ahead and get your blood pressure up for no reason….

A fan of technology yes. I have many devices and phones from many manufactures so what’s your point?

  • Timbo1

And? The camera bug is a 4.4.2 bug not specific to Sony. I don’t have LTE in my C6902 so I can’t comment on that.

  • Timbo1

Nah I’ve been using Android for years and never had blood pressure issues. Even when HTC was really bad at updating their devices.

  • Legolas

switching to sony shows what issues u had
