Xperia Z1 CompactA new firmware update with build number 14.5.A.0.283 has been released for the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact (D5503). The update has so far only been released for T-Mobile Austria and Telekom.de in Germany. However, users on these carriers were still rocking Android KitKat (14.4.A.0.157), so this update brings them a first taste of Android Lollipop. It is unclear whether this ‘283’ firmware will see a global release, the same build number has also been certified for the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra, although those updates are not live right now.

  • 14.5.A.0.270 is this the latest for other countries?

  • Deki

I still haven’t got .270 in Macedonia. It’s not fair!

  • XperiaBlog

Thanks – we checked all others just before publishing so looks like it may land on the Z1 too shortly.

Any news about changes in this firmware?

.270 is almost perfect but sound bug is still present. Sometimes bass doesn’t work and music quality is awful. They improved the camera quality in lollipop and but messed up the sound system. Hope they will fix it.
And another thing, when i turn off ultra saving mode, after restart it enables all my disabled factory bloatware, which is annoying.

.270 is not almost perfect. maybe halfway . multi tasking got worse. proximity sensor takes more time to turn on during call and there were a lot of random reboots. and yes i did a clean install .

In 270 there is a problem with mic or signal, other person doesn’t hear clearly what I am saying. In 242 it was clear.

  • PoweredBySony

Same problem here but if i set the phone to wcdma the problem is gone.

  • Ritwij

I got an update on my Z2 but it didn’t change the build number. Weird.

  • Kliment Stamenkov

I got the update but I still can’t install it. I’ve been trying for so long and I still can’t get to step 3 on PC Companion.

  • Devajyoti Barman

I have the same issue too. The people on the other end always complain of my voice being unclear. But my phone is a Z1 not a Z1C. Which phone are you using and does using a headset makes a difference in call quality?

  • But about a month ago 14.5.A.0.283 Certified as a Global release for Z1 series & Z ultra

    Ima vo Makedonija 270 :)

  • mukul verma

Mine is also z1, till now I haven’t used any headset, but I downgrade to 242 & now its perfect. I am not upgrading to 270, or till 5.1.1 in July.but in xda I had read while using headset its perfect. No problem what so ever.

Uninstall the pc companion and then try after re-installing it.

.270 is one of the worst updates yet. The battery issues alone are enough for people to give up on SONY. Check the sony support center. I am amazed not to find an article about it here.

  • Might be VoLTE support like was rumoured for all those Deutsche Telekom-branded Z3 handsets.

Does this update include new xperia home?

  • PoweredBySony

    nope

  • Rahul

For me, charging takes too long, ~1.5 – 2 hours from 25-30% to +90%…but on he other hand battery life seems to have improved.
is it the same issue you are talking about?

  • Kliment Stamenkov

I somehow managed to install it. Thanks a lot anyway! :)

I got the update on my Z1 Compact. This is the first time I am getting Lollipop. My phone is from T-Mobile Austria. I love the update. I noticed that the framerate of the viewfinder in the camera is terrible in comparison to Kitkat. In Kitkat it was super smooth but now in Lollipop it looks laggy and I don’t like it. The camera quality seems slightly worse which really annoys me. The battery life was terrible at first but it got WAY better after 2 days. So far I am really happy with the update except the camera.

can somebody tell the solution for z ultra screen wake up issue?. some times it does not wake up with power button

  • George

I used to love my sony experia Z1 compact. But since I installed Lollipop the people can not hear me. My speech is on and off. I tested my microphone and is working ok. But in call, it is like bad reception. Basically I cannot use my phone. If I have to buy a new one I will not buy sony again. I love experia but mine is still new and is now useless. I hope they fix it soon.
