We brought you the first details of the Sony Ericsson MT27i ‘Pepper’ model last week. Our sources tell us it will be the successor to the Xperia neo and have a 1GHz dual-core chipset, 3.7-inch (480 x 854) display, 5MP camera and a sealed battery. Now it seems that the Pepper will be using a ST-Ericsson chipset according to the EXIF data from the first photo sample from the device.
It is believed that the Sony Ericsson LT22i Nypon will also use the ST-Ericsson chipset, so perhaps Sony Ericsson is using two branches of chipset hardware for the 2012 generation of Xperia handsets. There’s not too long to find out the full details, we expect a number of new Xperia handsets to be announced on 9 January 2012 at CES.
