Xperia Z2 in 4K heat test against LG G3, Galaxy Note 3 and S5

Sequence 02.Still054The Sony Xperia Z2 is one of a few select phones that can record video at 4K resolution. The quality of the videos are very good, however one side effect is that recording in 4K generates a lot of heat. Trying to record 4K video over a few minutes can bring up a pop-up warning of high temperatures.

The Xperia Z2 is not alone in this regard – it is why the LG G3, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5 have a five-minute limit when recording 4K. If you want to see how these four phones compare when it comes to the heat they generate whilst recording 4K, then check out the video below from Btekt.

They placed an ice cube on each phone whilst recording 4K video to see which ice cube would last the longest. We won’t spoil the results here, so check out the video below. Also, you’ll find another video using a similar ice cube test for normal functionality comparing the Xperia Z2 against the Apple iPhone 5s, Nokia Lumia 930, LG G3, HTC One M8 and a Samsung Galaxy S5.
