Sony Ericsson LT22i ‘Nypon’ in NenaMark benchmark

The Sony (Ericsson) LT22i ‘Nypon’ smartphone has made an appearance in the NenaMark benchmark, just a day after MT27i Pepper. It scored 24.00 on average in NenaMark2, which compares to 30.70 for the Xperia S (LT26i).

The details confirm the qHD (540 x 960) resolution of the handset and likelihood of ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset. The processor speed is listed as 1.0GHz, whilst the GPU is the ARM Mali-400 MP, both corresponding with the U8500 chipset. We expect a formal announcement of the Sony LT22i Nypon at the MWC show at the end of next month.

Quite good.

For reference: a Neo (MT15i) on stock 2.3.4 scores 13.6 FPS average.

I think I’m going for the Nypon or the Pepper, no the Xperia S (Nozomi). I’d rather move away from the Qualcomm platform ASAP, and the better GPU in the ST-Ericssons will probably help more in ICS.

Im not an expert , soooo . please explain why you think u should take the Nypon/pepper. Is it quicker?

XPERIA S has the faster processor but the GPU in the Nypon has been on the market for about a year and it is still on par or even better than the Adreno 220. When the Qualcomm S4 processors get released they will use the Adreno 225 and it will only be slightly better than the 220.
Based on that the next gen of CPU/GPU`s from Qualcomm will be behind the competition.
The only advantage Qualcomm has is the fact that the S3/S4 chips have all the connectivity features included.
In my opinion a good GPU is more important than a quad-core CPU.

In my opinion it’s just ‘smarter’. It’ll be cheaper, more power-efficient, and just have a newer feel to it. I’m someone with quite a lot of brand loyalty, and I just like what Ericsson does.

The thing is just that Sony will no longer use any Qualcomm SoC’s after the Xperia S and Xperia Ion. ST-Ericsson is the future, and I’d rather have the future as soon as possible. Efficiency > raw power.

(and I think the ST-Ericsson also has the connectivity integrated. Nova = ST-Microelectronics CPU and Thor = Ericsson baseband. NovaThor = CPU + baseband)
