00059By now most of you would have had a chance to see Sony’s new Android 4.4.2 KitKat boot animation, which we reported on yesterday. Reaction to the animation has been mixed and we agree that Sony’s Jelly Bean boot animation seems more dynamic. Anyway, if you’re interested in trying it for yourself, click on the download links below.

It is worth noting that you will need a rooted handset for this to work. We have included links to two zip files below, the first will just replace your current bootanimation file in system > media. You will then need to make sure you set the correct permissions (rw -, r- -, r – -). The second zip file allows you to install via recovery. Enjoy!

Download Xperia KitKat boot animation

1) Install via ‘system > media’ – download

2) Install via recovery – download

It’s just a boot animation. I don’t understand that people go crazy about it. How often do people power on their device?

  • dm

Because I had Kitkat standard bootlogo on my Xperia S, prefer the Sony one. Love it :)

Sony should’ve made the KitKat Xperia boot animation similar to the PS3 boot animation and the PS3 sound.

They should have just stuck with the Jelly Bean animation but just with a few changes, it looked like a Vaio wallpaper. Then, they should have applied it to the PS4 background, that way it would have incorporated this One Sony thing they are doing (which I think is a good idea). But the KitKat boot is horrible, seems like Microsoft/Windows.

i like alot of the improvements for kitkat but it seems they want to be more userfriendly where the former look was sleek stylish classy

i decided to try my remove home button idea and see what it looks like i like the results

please note this is one of my concept designs i simply took the t2 ultra and did some changes after my taste

i never liked the extra rowe of icons over the softkeys sony did it right though to have them in a nice drawer kind of thing so they didn’t float

my idea is simply get rid of the home button at the homescreen and replace it with the menu button more screen space

  • nidou bossy

    so nice design render

Does anyone know how to restore the old one? I really don’t like it…

Very interesting thing I just come across at – I could choose any number of pants and shirts (from the list) at very heavy discount rates (up to 75% off online) – more we buy more discount – I never seen this before.
