Xperia ion coming to Europe in September 2012

in Xperia ion

The GSM version of the Sony Xperia ion (LT28i) will be heading to France in September according to FrAndroid. Sony Mobile announced its availability at the Medpi event currently being held in Monaco, although a price point was not disclosed.

The Xperia ion (LT28i) has already been released in Taiwan and is expected to launch in Hong Kong in the next few days. A global launch of the Xperia ion was promised earlier this year, so the news isn’t entirely surprising, although we do wonder whether it will launch with the same specs. The LTE version of the Xperia ion (LT28at) is still yet to hit AT&T in the United States with rumours pointing to a June launch date.

Seriously? Snapdragon S3 in September 2012?

Although, ion is nice handset but arrive little too late in market!

  • iliketowritearticles

    I’m getting this phone ASAP

  • John

It’s okay as long as they upgrade the processor to Snapdragon S4.

  • Why should Sony release an outdated device in September if Mint is expected to hit the markets at the same time? Beside that Hayabusa should arrive in a few weeks.

I just had a horrible feeling that this might be the long awaited ‘Mint’. That’d be a disaster, Sony!

  • DragonClaw

May then June, then July, then August, and then September. What? So many months.
Hopefully the International Ion will be higher on specs, else its a waste.
Or may be Sony has something better under their sleeves.

  • metcarded

Pointless. Scrap this and give me the Hayabusa Yesterday!!!!

I dont think this is a good tactic for sony, flooding the market with different devices all with different specs but non really much better then the other. It’s what mad HTC struggle last year and I think they should start to get into the habit of realising one flagship device each year that gains the attention (like samsung are doing). Lets be honest, there is no point in the ion being released…

  • i agree that it is too late for the uk and how will they market this phone when they’ll be 10 phones that are able to the same thing.

Maybe the price and the accessories???

  • weeeeee8888888888

is this the mint??…i have bad feeling..

  • boss

they’re so stupid at sony. When they announced the phone back in february, the hardware was already outdated…. Now, when they release the phone in September, the phone is even more outdated.

  • pixlas

Ok this is how it works; carriers choose to range phones, SONY does not ‘ let’ carriers sell phones . They ate simply happy if anyone range them. The ion will most probably be much cheaper than the Mint. So they will both fit in the market. There, stop crying now.

  • ipatz

too late, TOO LATE. This is why Sony will never beat Samsung and Apple in cell phone war.

  • freesurr

Awesome!! I want this phone! :D

Not everyone can afford a super-ultra-uber flagship smartphone. Waiting a while, means the price can be lower which means it can work as a mid-high range phone. Certainly it looks and feels premium, but it would lack the premium pricetag at the expense of bleeding-edge innards. Personally, the Ion would do fine – I don’t need uber gaming performance, I have dedicated consoles to do that for me. Angry Birds isn’t going to need Adreno 320 GPUs to function. Sure its nice for those who want/need it, but I don’t and I’m sure that others don’t either. For them the Ion exists as a cheaper alternative without sacrificing built quality.

Sony Xperia Ion just passed the FCC in the US with AT&T bands.

Xperia ion coming to Europe in September 2012 …
Will it be too late and outdated ? Why not launch Xperia GX (Hayabusa) instead !

  • FRKD

    oh cool….

AND WE ARE STILL WAITING IN THE US!!!!
    WTF!

  • Maybe they will sell it along side of Mint and Hayabusha (and S) as cheaper version on high end phone, certainly not as flagship device.
For what we know Mint I can be tablet, and if that proves right then we have situation where Hayabusha xperia GX will be true flagship and xperia ion his sidekick in 4,5″+ arena… Like more affordable dual core almost-flagship….

  • Totally agreed!
Hayabusha – xperia GX will be true flagship and xperia ion his sidekick in 4,5″+ display arena… Like more affordable dual core almost-flagship….

  • Maybe price will be accordingly reduced…

  • Mint should be a tablet not phone

  • Evita

Yeah man, I hope Sony will do

  • AlexBurnout

    Sounds good for me
